Mel on Gov. Perry, Texas and the Tenth Amendment

Before you join the bandwagon, start accepting misquotes by Governor Rick Perry and belittling Texas for threatening secession from the union, step back and actually read his statement:

"I believe that our federal government has become oppressive in its size, its intrusion into the lives of our citizens and its interference with the affairs of our state," Perry stated. "I believe that returning to the letter and spirit of the U.S. Constitution and its essential 10th Amendment will free our state from undue regulations, and ultimately strengthen our union."

Ask yourself, "Does the Federal Government too often:

* Oppress our states and our citizens by exercise of its sheer pomposity and size?
* Intrude into our lives?
* Interfere, both directly and indirectly, with state affairs and state business?
* Violate the 10th Amendment to our constitution?
* Saddle states with undue regulation, thereby weakening the whole of our union?"
* Try to control our states and our citizens by "giving" our own tax dollars back to us in the form of "entitlements", grants, and bailouts?

Is it too late to actually do anything about it? How can we resist Federal Power? And I'm NOT talking about secession or rebellion. I'm talking about taking back our country. I'm speaking about returning the direction of the USA to the republic form of government to which she was destined. I'm suggesting that we became a powerful and great country by honoring God and family values. I'm touting a system of free enterprise and capitalism. I'm in favor of as little restriction and regulation as necessary to guard against monopolistic practices.

I'm hoping for a grass roots movement that starts at the bottom of the political chain by infiltrating both parties with citizens willing to run for offices starting at the precinct level and on into the state houses - all the way to the halls of the Congress!

Take back our government with the power of voting into office, both minor and major, new and responsive representation. What grass roots
organization have you joined? Which precinct doors have you knocked on lately? What is your voting record? What have you volunteered to do that may be of help? What politician did you last support with a donation? To which party apparatus did you lend support?
