Which products are posing risks?
In 2015, toys (27%)
textiles and fashion items (17%)
were the two main product categories for which corrective measures had
to be taken. These were already the most notified products the year
before. As far as risks are concerned, in 2015, the most frequently
notified risk (25% of the total of the notifications) was chemical
risk, followed bythe risk
of injuries (22%),
which was at the top of the list in the previous report.
The most frequent chemical risks notified in 2015 related to products
such as fashion jewellery, with harmful heavy metals like nickel and
lead, and toys containing phthalates (plastic softeners which can cause

the notified dangerous products coming from China,
this country remains the number one country of origin in the alert
system. It is the EU's largest source of imports. "
In its report Dirty
Laundry 2 (Dirty Laundry 2?), the NGO
Greenpeace announced the results of the analysis of 78
garments. Of 52 items from brands (see list below),
nonylphenol ethoxylates (NPE) were detected well above
the accepted limit one milligram per kilogram.
Some products, such as Abercrombie & Fitch brand and
Converse, reaching peaks respectively 1100 and
2700 mg / kg. The vast majority of relevant
articles were manufactured in China, Bangladesh and
Southeast Asia (Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia). Link

government ordered the probe after scientists hired
by a consumer watchdog programme discovered
formaldehyde in Chinese clothes at levels of up
to 900 times regarded as safe. Manufacturers
sometimes apply formaldehyde to clothes to prevent
