"FAST AND FURIOUS"

ATF and Mexican Guns!

Washington Times .... Obama's Watergate .... Fast and Furious

"This is not only a major scandal; it is a high crime that potentially reaches all the way to the White House, implicating senior officials. It is President Obama’s Watergate.

Operation Fast and Furious was run by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and overseen by the Justice Department. It started under the leadership of Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr.

FAST AND FURIOUS: Washington (CNN) -- Attorney General Eric Holder said Tuesday that the controversial tactic that allowed illegal guns to be smuggled to Mexico "should never have happened, and it must never happen again." Link

and I'm innocent!!

Grassley said Holder "did a lot of dodging and weaving" and said Justice officials took months to correct "misleading" information provided to Congress earlier this year.

"Congress deserves more candid and honest responses to our questions," he said.

WHAT DO YOU KNOW AND WHEN DID YOU KNOW IT AND WHY THE HELL GIVE GUNS TO NARCO/TERRORISTS??

Facts:The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives allowed intermediaries for drug cartels to buy thousands of weapons from Arizona gun shops and lost track of about 1,400 of the 2,000 guns. Some of those weapons have been recovered at crime scenes in Mexico.

“If Attorney General Holder had said these things five months ago when Congress asked him about Operation Fast and Furious, it might have been more believable,” Frederick Hill, committee spokesman, said in a statement. “At this point, however, it’s hard to take at face value a defense that is factually questionable, entirely self-serving, and a still incomplete account of what senior Justice Department officials knew about gun walking.” Link

Not Just Fast and Furious and Holder

OBAMA TOO!

CNN's John King plays Holder's testimony to Congress on MAY 3, 2011, where he said he had only just recently heard about the Fast & Furious gunrunning program. "I'm not sure of the exact date, but I probably heard about Fast and Furious for the first time over the last few weeks," Attorney General Eric Holder said.

Then CNN compares Holder's testimony to what President Obama said in MARCH to CNN Espanol about the operation. "I heard on the news about this story that -- Fast and Furious, where allegedly guns were being run into Mexico, and ATF knew about it, but didn't apprehend those who had sent it." and Grenades!!

Come on Holder .... tell the truth!

"Between September 2009 and December 2010, congressional investigators said, they purchased or aided in the purchase of more than 2,000 AK-47 assault weapons, Barrett .50-caliber sniper rifles, FN 5.7mm semi-automatic pistols and other assorted rifles, shotguns and handguns that later were “walked” into Mexico. About half the weapons remain unaccounted for.

They paid cash, as much as $900,000, and with each purchase they signed their names on Form 4473, a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) document, swearing under the threat of committing a felony that they were not purchasing the weapons for someone else — that they were not “straw buyers.”

But they were, and the ATF knew it. Link

COVER-UP

"That looks 'more and more like a cover-up' of what he knew about a government-sanctioned gunrunning scheme that allowed hundreds of assault weapons to fall into the hands of violent Mexican drug cartels, says one of the key senators involved in the investigation.

Sen. John Cornyn told Fox News Wednesday that Holder was obstructing Congressional investigations. “We need to get to the bottom of this and the attorney general is not helping,”

House Republicans Request Special Counsel to Probe Holder on 'Fast and Furious'

EXCLUSIVE: House Republicans are calling for a special counsel to determine whether Attorney General Eric Holder misled Congress during his testimony to the House Judiciary Committee on Operation Fast and Furious, .....

The question is whether Holder knowingly made false statements of fact under oath during a Judiciary Committee hearing on May 3. At the time, Holder indicated he was not familiar with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives program known as Fast and Furious until about April 2011. "
Lying to Congress

ATTACK THE PRESS ....

Attkisson: Yes. Well the DOJ woman was just yelling at me. The guy from the White House on Friday night literally screamed at me and cussed at me. [Laura: Who was the person? Who was the person at Justice screaming?] Eric Schultz. Oh, the person screaming was [DOJ spokeswoman] Tracy Schmaler, she was yelling not screaming. And the person who screamed at me was Eric Schultz at the White House." Link

Holder Lied, People Died

"the administration was hip deep in the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearm’s Fast and Furious scheme to sell guns to Mexico’s murderous drug cartels, the president will need to explain why his administration held the lives of Mexicans so cheap.

Holder denied knowing all that much about Fast and Furious when testifying before Congress last May 3. “I probably heard about Fast and Furious for the first time over the last few weeks,” said Holder" LIED!

WEAPONS-GATE

What do you know and when did you know it?

Grassley, R-Iowa, and Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., said Thursday they are expanding their investigation into the scandal. In a strongly worded letter to Anne Scheel, the new U.S. attorney for Arizona, the chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee requested interviews, emails, memos and even hand-written notes from members of the U.S. attorney's office that played key roles in the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) program.

"Just hours after the death of Border Patrol agent Brian Terry, federal officials tried to cover up evidence that the gun that killed Terry was one the government intentionally helped sell to the Mexican cartels in a weapons trafficking program known as Operation Fast and Furious." Foxnews

"Florida Republican Rep. Allen West is demanding that President Barack Obama force Attorney General Eric Holder to resign.

Appearing on Nashville radio host Steve Gill’s show last week, West said Obama would be “complicit” with what he sees as Justice Department attempts to slow down and avoid a congressional investigation into Operation Fast and Furious and Project Gunrunner if he didn’t push his attorney general to resign. “The president needs to realize that Eric Holder needs to be removed from the Department of Justice,” West said

July 20 th "Two Republican lawmakers investigating a controversial Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives weapons operation known as “Fast and Furious” have asked the FBI and the Drug Enforcement Administration to explain what role their agents played in the investigation.

Sen. Charles E. Grassley of Iowa and Rep. Darrell Issa of California, concerned that the operation allowed weapons to be purchased by known “straw buyers” in this country and then later “walked” to drug smugglers in Mexico, want FBI Director Robert S. Mueller III and DEA Administrator Michele M. Leonhart to turn over additional information and documents involving an undercover investigation they described as “reckless.” Link

"The head of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives told congressional investigators he wasn't to blame for a troubled gun-tracking operation, saying he wasn't aware of its details until after public questions had been raised.

Kenneth Melson, the acting ATF director, in his first detailed comments on the gun program, contradicted testimony and documents previously released by lawmakers suggesting he was more familiar with the initiative known as Fast and Furious ..." Link

The Justice Department blocked senior ATF leaders from cooperating with Congress in its investigation of the “Fast and Furious” weapons operation, ordering them not to respond to questions and taking full control of replying to briefing and document requests, the agency’s top boss told congressional investigators.

Kenneth E. Melson, the embattled acting director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, told Senate Judiciary Committee and House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform investigators during a secret interview designed to circumvent Justice Department attorneys that he was “sick to his stomach” when he learned about problems with the controversial operation. My department is committing 100 new ATF personnel to the Southwest border in the next 100 days to supplement our ongoing Project Gunrunner, DEA is adding 16 new positions on the border, as well as mobile enforcement teams, and the FBI is creating a new intelligence group focusing on kidnapping and extortion. DHS is making similar commitments, as Secretary Napolitano will detail."
