      While morals in America are being compromised on every level, Christianity is spreading like wild fire in China. For every nation that strays, God seems to raise up another! Without nationwide revival, surely America is doomed to go the way of so many other world powers.

·        FAMILY MAN….

Mel and his wife, Helen, have been married for 49 years.  Their family includes a daughter, Brenda, and her husband, Kim Klockenga, living in Crystal Lake, IL with his two sons and their two boys; and a son, Gary, deceased.

 

·        MILITARY SERVICE….

Mel served the U.S. Navy for four years.  He was on Guam, M.I. during most of the Korean War, and later served aboard the U.S.S. Sitko Bay that ferried new aircraft to Korea and brought back damaged aircraft to Alameda, CA for repairs.  In 1954, he helped recommission a refurbished WWII attack carrier, the U.S.S. Hancock, CVA-19, with nation's first steam catapult.

 

·        EDUCATION….

During two of his High School years, Mel studied Bible under the tutelage of Dr. Frank Godsoe, pastor of Central Baptist Church in Amarillo, TX.  As a freshman, he went to Texas Tech in Lubbock, TX, then joined the Navy.  After his tour of duty, he continued his education at the University of Colorado in Bolder, CO and at Amarillo College.  He is a 1957 graduate of the School of Auto Damage Appraisal at the General Motors Institute of Technology in Flint, MI. 

 

·        EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP….

Mel is a Ford Credit retiree, having served 29 years in various field and staff positions in Ford Credit's insurance operations.  He was Training Director at Ford's first F&I Training Center and received national recognition in training leadership, receiving an award for "Outstanding Achievement of the Decade".  Promoted to Product Manager, he implemented Ford Credit's Limited Dual Interest Program.  He finished his career as Dealer Reinsurance Manager.

 

·        INVOLVED RETIREE….

After retirement, Mel served as the first Music Director of Balboa Baptist Church in Hot Springs Village (HSV), AR.  Later, he taught an adult men's class and was serving as Sunday School Director and was on the building committee when the church completed its first sanctuary and education facility.  He was a member of the HSV Kiwanis Club and sang bass-baritone in the Village Men's Chorus.  He also sang bass for the Village Gospel Quartet.  In 1991, while playing competitively in the men's HSV Golf Association, he made a hole-in-one!

 

Mel was elected to public office in 1992 and served three terms as Justice of the Peace in District 13 of Saline County Arkansas.  Running as a Republican, Mel is proud of having polled more votes in his District than did Bill Clinton in both the 1992 and 1996 elections.

 

During these years, Mr. Ingram also conducted business as an F&I Business and Reinsurance Consultant.  As a teaching consultant for the Glomark Corporation, he conducted a course for employees of the Zerox Corporation at their Training Center near Falls Church, VA.  He has also helped design and edit copy of Glomark's sales brochures.

 

In 2002, Mr. Ingram designed a power point presentation and taught each segment of a soul winner's course designed by Willow Creek Church in Schaumburg, IL, entitled "Becoming a Contagious Christian".   He helped found, edit copy for and is Treasurer of the "NIC VOICE", a layman's organization operating within in the Northern Illinois Conference of the United Methodist Church: www.nicvoice.org Currently, Mel and Helen are members of the Bethel Baptist Church in Schaumburg, IL.
